Roebling
Museum in the Main Gate
Six galleries will
exhibit the complete history of the Roeblings:
inventions, products, factories, bridges, the family, the workers,
and the village they built.
Origin
The
Roebling Museum Project was developed by the Roebling
Historical Society over ten years ago. As part of a U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency cleanup of the 240-acre
Superfund site that was once the Roebling plant, the EPA is
spending $6.1 million as a pilot project to refurbish the
Main Gate building of the Roebling plant as a 7,500 square
foot museum. They are also cleaning up seven acres of
surrounding land to exhibit major industrial artifacts from
the plant, including a 28 ft. Flywheel, a pair of elevated
Craneways and a Steel Charging Pot and Ladle that are
already on display.

Mission Statement
The Mission of the Roebling Museum is to document,
preserve and
exhibit the history of the John A. Roebling's Sons Company, the
Roebling family and Village of Roebling. Its focus is on the
industrial and technological achievements of the company and
also on the unique social history of the company's workforce and
the town it created. The Museum bridges a storied past and
present by providing exhibits and lecture, directed at the
interests of the world-wide public while also serving as a
resource for school curriculum programs and academic research.
Board of Directors
The new Roebling Museum Board of Directors was created in
January '07 to oversee fund-raising and the development of
exhibits for the industrial heritage museum to be created in the
Main Gate Building and the surrounding millyard. The unique 20-member board includes six direct descendents of
the Roebling family, including board chair, Linda McDonald, who
is a great-great-great grand daughter of John A. Roebling , six
members of the Roebling Historical Society, two former Roebling
workers and a current
council member. Clifford Zink, author of Spanning The Industrial Age: A History of John A. Roebling's Sons Company, has been
retained as historic preservation consultant.
